Menopause is a topic that is talked about much more these days which I’m sure many of us, including myself, are very grateful for. There still is a lot to do  when it comes to informing & sharing supports that are beneficial to women during this stage of their life.

Here are my 5 tips to support your Wellbeing during Perimenopause and Menopause.

1. ACCEPT WHAT IS

So, you’ve been told you’re in PMP or Menopause. Ok, take a breath, accept it and take action to support yourself. You may need HRT, you may prefer trying natural remedies, a combination of both or you may need nothing at all. Every Woman is different. Accepting that you have reached this time in your life is a first step. Then, educate yourself, find strategies, medicines and/or natural remedies that work for YOU!

2. REDUCE YOUR STRESS

After studying and also trying different things myself I noticed one thing: stress is the biggest reason we have severe episodes during menopause. This is because of our hormone changes so reduce stress when and where you can. Your body and mind will thank you for it. It is my most important recommendation.

3. GENTLE EXERCISE

The next aspect is exercise. Even if we got away with doing very little exercise up to now, I would recommend 30-60 min of exercise daily. Yoga, Swimming and Walking are good low impact options. Cardio is not recommended due the hormonal changes taking place in our body.

4. FOODS FOR MENOPAUSE

I have tried the below mentioned foods during menopause and the difference in energy levels was out of this world. Don’t take my word for it, try them yourself.

General: Eat foods of all colors.

Foods to incorporate in your diet include avocado, seeds, oily fish, dark chocolate, nuts, fruit and green vegetables.

Foods to avoid include processed foods,  fatty foods, excessive caffeine or alcohol.

Tip: Drink 8 glasses of water

5. BE KIND TO YOURSELF ALWAYS

It can be a tough time when our body and mind feels like its playing tricks with us. Get help if you are struggling with your mental health, surround yourself with positive people who are supportive. Move daily and try and  eat healthy foods as much as possible. Finally, know that you are beautiful inside and out, no matter what the scale says…….
